The Path of Life I originally wrote this way back when my grandmother passed away (my father’s mom, gramma g.). I wanted to create a solo guitar piece that would take you on a journey through the phases of life from birth (volume swells), to early childhood (arpeggio section) through mid-life to adulthood and senior years and then finally our passing on to the next life (artificial harmonics at the end)!! Wow all this in a relatively short guitar piece (6 min.) Well that is the general idea, yes!! I first performed this piece at gramma g.’s funeral and I always think of her when I think of this song!! Musically, I was inspired by the guitar style of Michael Hedges whilst creating this tune. Michael also has passed away and I value his contributions as a person and guitar player/composer!! |
